And season 4 could explore the consequences of the schism, the restoration of mutant abilities, and, well, some kind of big final threat that helps to resolve the schism. Season 3 can explore the birth of the mutant messiah, the foundation of Utopia, and the resulting schism. Then (since they are talking about a 4 season plan) season 2 can deal with the decimation event (absolutely fantastic for a season long look at all the impacts, from those who’ve lost their abilities, to Hank’s quest for a fix, to those who want to seize the advantage and wipe out mutants permanently, to former foes who now see common cause with the X-Men for the sake of survival, to Cyclops’ growing sense that the ideals and tactics of Charles Xavier are no longer adequate to ensure their survival). Personally, I’d love for season 1 to be kind of a (Morrison) New X-Men phase, with people looking to exploit the growing popularity (and maybe growing population) of mutants. I’ve heard there going with the angle at the start that mutants are less hated and more popular, leading to members of the team debating their focus while giving others an opportunity to step back and look into exploring their lives as civilians.
